It should have been a portal, all jump in, all jump out if you want, add a mechanic that punishes you for being in the shadow realm for longer than a set period (boss gaining a dodgable turret, elite adds spawning or something) instead of losing health (ruining low hp or full hp playstyles)

If you find yourself struggling, as we were, to deal enough damage, try this loadout: Since Nightmare has the closest thing I have seen to a metric fuck ton of health, this is the only viable way of defeating him. When you shoot him, you will deal insane damage. If you deal enough damage, Nightmare will be stunned briefly and you will see the Dreamer popping out of his chest. The basic strategy is to kill as many enemies as possible in the other dimension he transports you to and the come back through the portal with incredibly buffed damaged. However when I went into my friends' worlds, we suddenly started having difficulty doing enough damage to him.
